2016 & moving Veintidós

The project has been in Mijas for the last year, with the help of volunteers we have managed to turn an overgrown garden into a terraced beautiful growing space with a little garden bench perfect to ponder what the next move is.

We had 8 fantastic volunteers, 8 organised events and over 150 visitors. Our open door policy enabled me and others staying here to meet all kinds of people and through their experiences gather the courage and inspiration to continue working on building on what we have started. When faced with doubts, challenges and naysayers we've been able to use those challenges to clarify what our goals are and work towards a plan in order to achieve them. The kindness shown towards strangers has been repaid many times over. It hasn't always been easy but it was worth it. We learnt that collaboration makes light work and impossible dreams a reality.

We would like to build a more stable community and move to a place where we can live more sustainably. We want to grow the project in a way that attracts like minded people and live on the land for the land thus have sufficient resources in order to minimise our reliance on the monetary system.

I have a dream. My dream is to live on the land for the land, to reduce my dependency on the monetary system, embrace the gift economy, spend my life with others who share this dream and be able to teach others how to do the same.

In the dream the land is big enough to support an intentional community that is open to others who want to learn or be part of it whilst understanding that for a community to be sustainable population numbers should be limited according to the capacity of the land. I also understand that we are custodians of the land that sustains us and our duty is not only to care for it but also to regenerate it.

In the dream I am still connected to the world around me and using technology in a way that doesn't harm the environment but makes working with the land and connecting with other like minded people easier.

If you have a similar dream and would like to join us or would like to know more please get in touch.
